COMPANY PERFORMANCES

The Girl in White
Dance/Music Collaboration

The company is currently working on an exciting collaboration with composer, Robert Bradshaw, on a dance music video project titled, THE GIRL IN WHITE. It is a 35-minute trumpet ballet based on a Mexican folktale. The ballet will be taped in early May 2012 and will be aired on PBS. Look for the airing dates sometime in late summer or early fall of 2012.

In March 2012, the Company performed
GROUND
New Aerial Dance Concert

GROUND, choreographed by artistic director Janet Taisey Craft in collaboration with dancers Chandra Cantor, Jenny Carlson and Danielle DiVito, stretches the boundaries of Ipswich Moving Company’s unique form of aerial dance developed over the last twenty-five years. The dancers move in and out of solos, duets and trios in a continuous unfolding of emotions, images, and ideas during the 40-minute dance.

GROUND explores the precarious space off the ground in which the dancers move through the sculpted shapes of canvas slings into the daring cat’s cradles of tied climbing ropes.  Relationship between the dancers and the ground, and between each other creates a world that is emotionally charged and breathtakingly beautiful.  The intimate studio theater space and the beautiful lighting by Sandra Galley create an environment in which the audience is drawn into the dancers’ world of GROUND.

The audience participted in an informal “talk back” with the Company immediately following each performance.
